Director of Retail

We’re looking for an experienced and visionary Director of Retail to lead the strategic growth and performance of our growing retail and showroom footprint. In this high-impact leadership role, you will drive retail excellence, elevate the in-store customer experience, and build meaningful community connections that amplify our brand presence across key markets.

You will oversee the performance, culture, and operations of the stores, while partnering closely with cross-functional teams to inform product feedback, brand activations, and local community activations. Your leadership will be instrumental in scaling our retail model, optimizing the customer journey, and translating brand vision into a best-in-class, omnichannel experience.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Strategy & Performance

  • Own the end-to-end retail strategy for the current IRL location (showrooms, pop up, flagship locations) and future locations, including P&L accountability, sales growth, and operational excellence.

  • Build and scale performance-driven retail processes that ensure seamless customer experiences, both in-store and through personalized private appointments.

  • Analyze business trends and KPIs to inform sales tactics, product assortment, staffing, and expansion decisions.

  • Own and execute visual merchandising standards and partner with merchandising and planning teams to optimize inventory flow, demand forecasting.


Community Engagement & Brand Growth

  • Serve as the face of the brand in key regions, identifying strategic partnerships, local ambassadors, and brand-right community activations.

  • In partnership with Brand, Lead the development and execution of hyper-local marketing and outreach strategies to drive traffic, engagement, and loyalty.

  • Build deep community relationships through events, collaborations, and influencer partnerships that align with the brand’s mission and values.


Leadership & Culture Building

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing retail team focused on delivering exceptional service and results.

  • Define a talent strategy that supports future store openings, including hiring, onboarding, training, and career development programs.

  • Champion a strong, inclusive team culture rooted in accountability, customer connection, and brand passion.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a key liaison between showroom operations and HQ teams (e.g., marketing, merchandising, product, and CX).

  • Provide customer insights and feedback to inform product development, brand storytelling, and omni-channel initiatives.

  • Partner with DTC and digital teams to ensure a cohesive online-to-offline brand experience.


Qualifications

  • 6–8+ years of progressive retail leadership experience, with a proven track record in multi-unit management or flagship store ownership.

  • Strong understanding of the modern retail landscape, customer journey, and community-building strategies.

  • Experience scaling customer-focused retail operations in high-growth consumer or fashion/lifestyle brands.

  • Strategic thinker with sharp business acumen — comfortable working with data, financial metrics, and performance KPIs.

  • Dynamic, collaborative leader with excellent communication and team-building skills.

  • Hands-on experience with event execution, influencer partnerships, and private customer experiences.

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Proficient in retail systems, analytics tools, and Google office.

  • Must be based in Los Angeles, CA

 

 

Location: Los Angeles, California 

Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote

Base Salary: $115,000–$130,000 CAD/USD + Bonus Potential (depending on experience)
